Learn to knit! This class is designed for students who have never knitted or would love to brush up on the basics. Students will learn about the varying weights of yarns, fibers, needles and knitting tools. We will then learn to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, increase, decrease and, most importantly, how to fix mistakes! With all this knowledge, students will knit a hat!
*Materials: Worsted weight yarn, #8 circular (16") and dpn, stitch markers and darning needle.

summit shawl
1 Session / $15
Saturday 10am - 12:30pm / September 25
This will be one of those knits you can't put down. Cast on using any weight (the pattern is easily modified) and create a work of art. This is also the perfect project to learn the technique of knitting back backwards. In this technique, rather than turning your work around to purl a few stitches, you will learn how to keep the right side facing you while you knit the wrong side. It's a great trick when turning heels or working entrelac too!

the proverbial cap
1 Session / $10
Saturday 2pm - 4pm / September 18
This beautiful hat consists of Twisted-Stitch Knitting. Knitting through the back loop provides an appearance of the design being "carved" into the wool, yet provides an extremely elastic fabric. The Proverbial Cap is a great small project to practice twisted-stitch knitting, cables, reading a chart and knitting in the round!

*Materials: Fall 2010 Interweave Knits, Worsted weight yarn (200 yds), appropriately sized 16" circular and double pointed needles and basic knitting tools.
