beginning knitting

4 Sessions / $40

Learn to Knit! This class is designed for students who have never knitted or would love to brush up on the basics. Students will learn about the varying weights or yarns, fibers, needles and knitting tools. We will then learn to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, increase, decrease and, most importantly, how to fix mistakes! With all this knowledge, students will knit an adult hat!

*Materials: Worsted weight wool (100 grams), #8 circular - 16" and dp needles, darning needle, stitch marker, and basic knitting tools.

entrelac scarf

1 Session / $20

Saturday 10am-1pm / March 20

Entrelac is a fun technique with results that look as though you have woven your knitting! Try it out with this fun scarf. We used Noro Kochoran and watched each diamond change color.

*Materials: Worsted weight yarn, appropriate sized needles, darning needle and knitting tools.

beginning crochet

2 Sessions / $20

Tuesday 6-7:30pm /March 23, 30

All you need is one hook for crochet and Oh, the things you can do! This class will teach the basics of crochet while you make a great bowl/basket. Learn all the basics and you will be a crochet pro!

*Materials: Aruacania Ulmo or Cascade Cotton Rich (100 grams), size G hook and basic crochet tools

fingerless mitts

2 Sessions / $20 *pattern included

Tuesday 6-8pm /March 9, 16

These beautiful mitts designed by Anneliese are a great introduction to knitting on double point needles and working cables.

*Materials: Cascade Dolce (2 skeins), # 8 dpns and basic knitting tools

toe-up socks

2 Sessions / $20

Thursday 6-8pm / March 4, 18

Have you wanted to learn but are a little apprehensive? Come and learn the easy way! We will learn how to knit socks from the toe up. They are a great project to take along to a sporting event, the doctor's office or just stash in your bag for who knows when! They are fun to wear and can be great gifts. You will be quick to join the ranks of enthusiastic sock knitters.

*Materials: 100 grams of sock yarn, appropriately sized dpns and basic knitting tools.

top down seamless sweater

3 Sessions / $30

Saturday 10am-12pm / March 6, 13 and April 10

Here is your chance to knit a top-down sweater in one piece! The sweater begins at the back of the neck and works down, adding sleeves and a collar later. It can't be any easier than this and is a great first sweater! You will be knitting on circular and double pointed needles, picking up stitches and smiling from ear to ear because you won't be seaming. Choose any size from newborn to adult and pick out one of our new cotton yarns...you'll be ready for spring!

*Materials: Choose 1 of the many top down sweater patterns at the shop (we can help you find one you love), appropriately sized needles/yarn and basic knitting tools

**Please have a swatch knit in the round ready for class (We'll help you get started when you pick out your materials)

learn to fix your mistakes

1 Session / $10   

Saturday 2-4pm / March 20

 

Saturday afternoon rolls around and you settle down to knit. A stitch drops off your needle... now the whole thing looks wrong... you get it back on the needle... the yarn shop doesn't open again until Tuesday...

Learn to fix those mistakes yourself and be the master of your own knitting! This class will discuss how to pick up those stitches, how to successfully rip your knitting back and return it to your needles correctly... plus much more! Bring your questions and and take charge of your knitting!

*Materials: swatches prepared for class (be sure to find out about homework when signing up!)

two color knitting

1 Session / $10   

Saturday 12-2pm / March 13

 

If you have been wanting to try your hand at using 2 colors in one row, this class is for you! Students will knit a beautiful hat while incorporating colors. Come to learn the tips and tricks that will make your hat look professional.

*Materials: DK weight yarn, appropriately sized needles, pattern, stitch marker and basic knitting tools

kitchener stitch

1 Session / $10   

Saturday 12-2pm / March 6

 

Using this technique, you can join two pieces of knitting that have not been bound off. Done correctly, it's impossible to see where the pieces were joined! This technique is a must for socks, sweaters, mittens and more!

*Homework: Knit 2 swatches as follows: CO 20 sts. Knit for 6 rows. Work in st st for 3". Leave on needle and be sure to bring a darning needle and contrasting yarn.

cables

1 Session / $10   

Saturday 2-4pm / March 13

 

They're lovely and not as tricky as they look! Bring some yarn and try your hand at cables! Learn the basics and you will be ready to begin a hat or scarf before the class is over.

*Materials: Worsted weight wool (light colored with few color changes is best), cable needle, appropriately sized needles and basic knitting tools.

Class Policies

  • Class fee must be paid in full when you register.
  • REFUND POLICY: Student must notify Fiddlehead Yarns at least one week before the class in order to receive a refund in the form of a store credit. After that date fees are not refundable or transferable.
  • Missed class time is student’s responsibility and no refunds will be issued.
  • Yarn and materials for classes and workshops are available from the shop and we encourage you to purchase them from us.
  • A 10% discount is given on all class materials.
  • Private lessons can be arranged for $10/hr and must be paid when scheduled.
