Due to the fun of summer, we are taking a break from the shop KAL and are going to enjoy the 4th Thursday of the month as an additional OPEN KNIT NIGHT!! Sound like fun? Bring something fun to sip and throw your lawn chair in the trunk. If it's nice, we might be able to enjoy the evening outside!

The new Zhivago bags from Offhand Designs have made it into the shop. They are fun!! Friday found Ellyn and I trying to see how much yarn we could fit into one. Let's just say we fit everything to complete a sweater for Jack in there...along with Jack!

Fiddlehead Yarns continues to grow!

We are excited to welcome a new yarn company to the shop! LOUET!! www.louet.com

Hold onto your knitting needles...a washable and dryable wool from Canada! Beautiful colors and amazingly soft.  In fingering, sport and worsted weights, it's possible to knit something for that new baby in a soft wool without fear of how it will be taken care of! Patterns for these yarns are in the shop too (many of them are in the round!) and the fingering weight is perfect for SOCKS!!

We also have a small amount of Linen, great for light summer tops and totes. More is on the way!

We just received the latest patterns from http://www.zephyrstyle.com/home.html I finished the"Rusted Root" and it is adorable. Knit in Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece, it will be perfect for the summer.

Frog Tree Alpaca in a worsted weight is here! Same great stuff in amazing colors!

Enjoy the warm weather and don't forget your knitting bag!

Where do I begin??

1...A NEW CLASS added to the list for April. It's a crocheted vest! It's fun, fast and exactly what you need for your warm weather wardrobe!

2...Speaking of crochet...Heide will be in the shop on Friday, April 20th from 4-6 pm for CROCHET HELP! Do you have something sitting in your basket that you have been unable to work on it because you're lost? Stop in. She can take a look and help you through it. This is a FREE service so please limit your questions to 10 minutes. Thanks!

3...I was in Madison this weekend at the Madison Knitter's Guild Knit-In. I dragged my parents up there, leaving town at 4:30am. We had a great day! I left the shop in the good hands of my sister, Lindsey, and Nan Bloch. It sounds like they had a fun day. I should leave more often!

I did leave the shop a little thin in a few areas. The upside is that I am filling those spaces with NEW things!!

New to the shop...

Interlacements' Tiny Toes and Beaded Scarf Kits https://interlacementsyarns.com/index.asp

Artyarns' Beaded Silk, Regal Silk, Handpaint Stripes  http://www.artyarns.com/

Karabella Lace Merino http://www.karabellayarns.com/default.aspx

And we have BUTTONS! We have about a dozen to choose from and we will be ordering more soon!

4...And because there is an extra Thursday this month...COME JOIN US FOR AN EXTRA KNIT NIGHT this thursday at 6 pm!!

March 19, 2007

This Thursday is the Fiddlehead Yarns KAL! We are starting a new project this month and I think it will prove to be fun for everyone. There are two options this time around: the Scrawl and the felted tote bag from Holiday Knits. This bag has suede handles and a bottom. I have found the source for these and they come in different colors!! Those knitting it will have a decision to make! Also, we have been hard pressed to get our hands on some copies of Holiday Knits. Check the libraries and keep your fingers crossed that Kurt, the UPS man, drops the box off before Thursday! The pictures of both can be found on the websites listed below. Come join in the fun!

**The toe up sock class for the month of April is on Tuesday evenings. The dates were correct but the day was not!

*Please note* The shop will be closing Friday, April 6th and will reopen Thursday, April 12th. The guys up front can help with some emergency sales but there will be no one there to help with knitting questions. Open knitting will still be on for that Thursday, so see you then!

March 13, 2007

How about a little charity? I was recently contacted by Renee Youngberg who is the National Coordinator for Sheila's Shawls and Paul's Scarves. A program that donates hand knit scarves and shawls to victims who have lost loved ones due to domestic abuse. http://www.silentwitness.net Renee's daughter is a student at Carthage and the Coordinator for the state.

She asked if the shop would be interested in being a drop off site for these wonderful things. I let her know what a terrific community of knitters we have and that many of you might be interested in knitting for the cause too!

I know there are many things, people and causes to knit for but how about making this one of them? If you have a second, please consider knitting for this. Stop at our charity knitting night. Enjoy the conversation and knit something to warm someone's spirits. If you can't make the 1st Thursday of the month, drop the garment off. The shop still has donated yarn if you would like to use some of it for this purpose.

The website above does contain some patterns if you would like to check there. Knit one scarf and you have helped! Call the shop if you have questions and Thanks!
